What is happening?

Since January 20th, 2025, thousands of CDC scientists, public health experts, communicators, and more have been abruptly terminated in the largest ever attack on the U.S. public health workforce. Many dedicated public servants are now struggling to make ends meet, despite years of service to protect the health of the American public.

Who We Are

The CDC Mutual Aid Network was established by current and former CDC colleagues who saw a need and decided to take action.
The CDC Mutual Aid Assistance Fund is managed by the Family Support Center, an Atlanta-based nonprofit dedicated to helping families in need.

What We Do

We provide direct emergency funds to colleagues across the county — CDC employees, fellows, and contractors — who have lost their income and are facing financial hardship.
Applications are evaluated by an independent committee based on need, ensuring fairness and transparency.

How Does My Donation Make an Impact?

Your contribution—big or small—will have a direct impact on fired CDC workers. Whether it's covering groceries, rent, or medical bills, every dollar helps a fired CDC worker get back on their feet.

$50 can help cover needed prescriptions
$75 can help pay the electrical or water bill for the month
$100+ can make a difference towards buying groceries or paying the rent

We fully anticipate that all funds will go to terminated employees. However, if donations exceed direct needs for those who have lost jobs, excess funds will be donated to AFGE Federal Employee Defense fund to support legal and other strategies to defend American public employees.
