Financial Assistance

  • CDC Federal Credit Union, Navy Federal Credit Union, USAA, United States Senate Federal Credit Union, and others offer financial assistance to their members in the event of a government shutdown or other hardship. For example, CDC FCU offers 0% on loans in the amount of your most recent paycheck. Reach out to your bank and other creditors early to find out if they have an assistance program.

  • The Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund has both an Emergency Hardship Loan program and Shutdown Grants available for qualifying full-time federal civilian employees.

  • Assistance programs for furloughed federal workers in the D.C., region.

  • Current employees in non-pay status (i.e. not receiving a paycheck due to the shutdown) who are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to access other financial assistance may be eligible for funds through the CDC Mutual Aid Fund. Learn more and request assistance here.
